Tittle:A child called "It"
Author:Dave Pelzer
1. Significance: Why should you care about this situation/problem?
In this story Dave Pelzer got child abused and never told anyone about that his mom was abusing him. So he was keep getting abused that's why I should care.
2. Why should a person chose to read this?
A person would read this because it is real story and sad because a child got child abused. By the cover of the page of the book you can tell it is sad because the book is called a child called "It" so by that I can tell a child is being called it or treated bad that's what I thought when I saw the cover of the page. Their is also a kid on the front cover so maybe that is one of the other clues.
3. Perspective: What do you perceive the problem to be?
The problem in the book is that the child was stealing food at school and everyone at school thought he is a bad child but it is not really that it is that mom never gave him food. The other problem is that he is getting child abused.
4. Is the author clearly for or against the issue he/she is writing about?
I think the author is against what he is writing because I think it was sad for him to write about when he was getting child abused.
5.Evidence: What argument is the author trying to make?
The author is trying to agree with his dad leaving the house because he is the one who can save him from his mom.
6. What information is given in the problem? What information is useful?
I think that the information from the problem is given on the cover of the page when it says one child's courage to survive. The information that is useful is the back cover of the page.
7. Connection: How does this event still effect us today?
It affect us today because just thinking of what happened to him makes me say it's sad and it affects him because he's the one who got child abused and doesn't want that to happen again.
8. What would this piece inspire you to read in the future?
when I read this I would want to go back and read the book because it is a true story and sad.
9. Supposition: How would life today be different if this event never happened?
It would be different because the teachers and students wouldn't think he was a bad kid because he stole food from other kids It was because his mother never gave him food. Also that he would of never flunked and he would of never gotten child abused he wouldn't have those bad memories of his mom.
10. What would happen if you applied this to a new situation?
Then all those bad stuff would never happened to him.
